In the 1951 science fiction epic "The Day the Earth Stood Still a large powerful metal robot named Gort neutralizes the most powerful of human weapons. The alien Klaatu makes a promise that Gort will return to Earth in 50 years to see if the
inhabitants of Earth had complied with their demand for world peace and put an end to the use
of nuclear weapons.
1995, six years to go before Gort returns. While the end of the cold war seemed to hint at the possibility of nuculear peace, the bombing of the parking garage in the north tower of the World Trade Center on February 26, 1993 shatters the illusion of safety. Peace?

FLYBY INTO
HISTORY
The year 2001 marks the fiftieth year after the making of "The Day the Earth Stood Still," which aptly fits as a title to a post 9/11 New York City. The day our earth stood still was filled with images pressed into our minds.
